OK Quality Pots, Effective With Right Soil & Fertilizer, Reasonably Priced. Spouts Should be Larger.
Do you think you have a brown thumb because you often forget to water your plants? This set of three Nuotuv Self-Watering Pots (8, 9 and 10 inches in diameter) gives you everything you need to keep some fairly large plants healthy—except the soil. The three sizes allow you to select the size of the pot to suit your plant. The largest of these pots could probably hold anything short of a small bush. These pots are constructed of 1/8 inch thick plastic—significantly heavier than the cheap plastic pots plants come in at the garden center, but not thick enough to be reliably shock proof. The bottom part holds the water reservoir and catches any drips if you water from the top. There is a clear window to the left of the spout so that you can easily see how high the water level is. Water can be poured in through the plastic spout attached at the side. The thick cotton string that is thread through the bottom, with its ends dipped into the water reservoir, wicks the water to where it can reach the soil. So the soil has constant access to a constantly wet string from which it can absorb what it needs. No possibility of overwatering your plants—the most common cause of death in house plants! Nor any possibility of underwatering, as long as you remember to refill the reservoir when needed. Almost foolproof! This is a common design in self-watering pots and a good one, except for two things:1) The spout is not wide enough. The relatively narrow spout sits across only half of the water opening. You would need a baster to hit it reliably. It would have been easy enough to make a wider spout that spans the entire water opening. It would then be much easier to funnel water into the reservoir without spilling.2) There is no non-woven fabric to place on top of the cotton string at the bottom of the pot to keep soil from clogging the holes. Many self-watering plant pots include this. It would be cheap and easy to include these. Since these pots are not so equipped, you can probably employ used dryer sheets (no soap left in them) for this purpose. Not all soils will work well with self-watering pots, especially large ones like these. So it is important to use the right kinds of soil and fertilizer. Self-watering pots require soil that will easily wick moisture upwards without becoming waterlogged. It is often recommended that you use a mixture of lightweight potting soil with about 50% perlite or coco coir. Heavy soils like garden soil do not work well with self-watering pots, as they are not as well aerated and it is difficult for the water to move through them. Because moisture-wicking additives like coco coir do not have any nutrients in them like soil does, it is important to add a diluted liquid fertilizer when you water. You will also need to flush the soil periodically with water from above, to wash out the fertilizer salts—about every second watering. If set up with the proper kinds of soil and fertilizer, depending on the weather conditions and needs of the plant, you may only need to water your plants once every week or two.I am excited to use these self-watering pots, but I will need to wait until next spring. Our freeze date has already passed, and I have no space large enough to accommodate these big pots inside. I may plant some hyacinth bulbs in the smallest one and leave them outside, as they need a period of “coolth” to grow. If anything unexpected happens, good or bad, I will update this review.I like the white color of these pots well enough—goes with everything. But I could wish these came in faux wood or another more decorative pattern. These pots are utilitarian, but not the prettiest to look at.Self-watering pots can be had for anywhere from $1.25 to $15 apiece, depending on their size and the number in the set. At the list price of $17.99 ($6 per pot), and even more at the “coupon” price of $15.99 ($5.33 per pot), these self-watering pots are very reasonably priced. These self-watering pots can help beginners and “brown thumbs” keep even large plants in the “Goldilocks Zone.” Not too much water, nor too little. Just right, with no need to water very often! Every gardener’s dream!

A stylish set of plastic pots, with a self watering feature, & a filling spout which is useful
This is a plastic set of planters, that have some nice features of a self watering feature, and a nice little spout that goes on the water hole to make it easier to pour water in there. Each planter bid a little different than the other one, although they would produce an attractive set of planters grouped together on your counter. The little attachment system for the bottom seems like it would work fairly decency, but if you overfill it water will come over the seams. Also if you pick up your plant pots to move them around a lot it is possible the bottom might pop off, because they don’t seem to completely locked in the place but I may be wrong on that. This does seem like a good set to get for the price, and I like the look of the cork bottom even though it’s plastic. This seems to be a good value for the price and will help you modernize your planters in your house. Plus it gives you flexibility if you need to travel away from your house for a few days where the planters will keep water for the plants for an extended trip.

They Look Nice
They seem like nice pots, light weight, good drainage at the bottom, reasonably large bottom basin, and a nice water wicking braid system for bringing water up.They look good, reminiscent of a classic pot design with a cork bottom.Their strength and longevity is yet to be determined, but I am a bit concerned with the bottom drip basin latches and how much it flexes. In addition the labels on the bottom are really quite difficult to see, which is kind of both a pro and a con.I wish the manual included some more guidance on how different types of plants need different water requirements, and touched on alternative configurations and recommended plants. I planted one with a succulent, using no wicks just a well drained pot, the second I used one wick like shown in the manual, and the third I used two wicks to get more water to a higher level. The spout is a bit small and it’s placement in relation to the viewing window isn’t the best for filling and viewing simultaneously.Don’t forget to take the amazon sticker off the bottom pot, it’s covering some of the drainage holes.

A solid upgrade for a growing plant collection
I bought these for my daughter after she decided plants were her hobby this past summer. Fast forward a few months and her house is now filled with greenery, and she is always on the hunt for more pots that actually work well for healthy growth. She really loves self watering pots, and these fit the bill because they take a lot of the guesswork out of watering. The water reservoir and visible water level window make it easy to see when the plant needs attention without overwatering, which has been a big help with her busier schedule. The wicking system does a good job of delivering moisture evenly, and her plants have responded well so far.The quality is better than expected for plastic pots. They feel sturdy, assemble easily, and the clean white design looks nice indoors without distracting from the plants themselves. The size options are especially useful for her green plants that tend to get big and outgrow standard pots quickly.I’m giving these four stars because the instructions could be more detailed, especially for different plant types and watering needs, and the fill spout could be a little more convenient. Overall though, these are a great value, look nice, and have been a practical addition to her ever growing plant collection.

Work like a charm
I like the variety of sizes but all three are a good sizes. The setup was easy and works great. There is only one spot where you can see the water level so when I rotate the plants it can make it difficult to see. The pots are sturdy, no buckling issues, my hardest part was getting the base with the water storage to adhere. Its made a great difference with my cucumber and tomato plants growth compared to other seedlings in different pots.
